Awarded without open competition
Awarded without open competition. The buyer went directly to one or a few suppliers instead of advertising the contract. Procurement rules allow this only in specific cases, such as extreme urgency, when only one supplier can do the work, or for call-offs from an existing framework.

Description
In 2017 SFRS utilised the National Collaborative Framework Agreement for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment for Fire Fighters to award a contract to Bristol Uniforms Limited for a period of eight years. This contract is due to end on 30 June 2025 with no option to extend. The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) commenced a project to replace the previous national agreement in 2024, but the project has been delayed, and the delay has resulted in SFRS being unable to award a new contract to replace the current one. There will therefore be a period of around 18 months between the current contract ending and SFRS being able to call off from a new contract. Therefore, SFRS are looking to direct award a contract to Bristol Uniforms Limited to cover the 18-month period.
