Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water are part of Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL), which is a member of Northumbrian Water Group (NWG). NWL operates in the north east of England, where it trades as Northumbrian Water, and in the south east of England, where it trades as Essex & Suffolk Water. Northumbrian water currently provides water to 2.5 million people and sewerage services to 2.7 million people and Essex & Suffolk Water provides water services to 1.8 million people. A combined area of 12.260 sq. km covered, NWL operates and maintains a water mains network of over 25,000 km (incorporating 57 water treatment works) and a network of over 15,000 km of public sewers (including 416 wastewater treatment works).
