The vision for Extra Care is to enable people to continue to live independently for longer through the development of vibrant and balanced communities with onsite care that adapts to changing needs, through effective partnership working between registered landlords, service providers and wider stakeholders. To support balanced communities within Extra Care housing, each scheme aims to balance the following split in care needs: 40% high need (10 hours +); 40% medium need (5-10 hours); and 20% low need (less than 5 hours).
