Awarded without open competition
Awarded without open competition. The buyer went directly to one or a few suppliers instead of advertising the contract. Procurement rules allow this only in specific cases, such as extreme urgency, when only one supplier can do the work, or for call-offs from an existing framework.

Description
LNER requires the continued supply of Marked Gas Oil to Clayhills Depot, Aberdeen. The fuel is used directly by LNER and other rail operators to power trains operating on the national rail network. Any interruption to fuel supply would have the potential to affect the operation of passenger services and therefore continuity of supply is critical whilst the replacement procurement is completed and mobilised. The estimated value of the extension is approximately £2.8 million (excluding VAT), representing forecast demand of approximately 2.6 million litres of fuel during the extension period. The proposed modification comprises a temporary extension of the existing contract for a period of up to five months. The extension maintains the existing fuel specification, delivery requirements and operational arrangements necessary to support rail operations. The scope of the contract remains substantially unchanged.
