The National Waiting Times Centre Board intends to enter into a contract with Intuitive Surgical as being the only option meeting our requirement. In accordance with our interpretation of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 the services can only be provided by the particular provider for technical reasons and competition is therefore absent for technical reasons due to the unique essential requirements of the equipment require, namely Intuitive Surgical is currently the only manufacturer of commercially available robotic-assisted surgical systems offering robotic four-arm multi-port technology anda suite of fully wristed 8mm instrumentation, wristed advanced energy and stapling instruments, flourescence imaging, integrated table motion and skills simulation, on a single platform, capable of performing minimally invasive surgical procedures.
